Can't Stop, Won't Stop: Learning and Giving

This week I decided to combine my two blogs into one and take the principles I am learning and find ways to correlate them This was incredibly easy this week.
One of my biggest takeaways was being able to never stop learning. I like to compare this to sports and athletes and to successful business professionals alike. Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, When you think of the names you think of greatness. You think of money and you think of success. These are common household names. Now what no one thinks of, is how do they stay on top of their respective "games"?  I learned from Magdalena Yesil this week to never stop learning and never stop pushing yourself towards your next big opportunity. When most people think of Tom Brady and Kobe you think Greatest of All Time or G.O.A.T. Tom Brady is 40 years old and he is still putting up insane stats even at his age and still performs at a top-notch level. He does this through his personal dedication to his passion. He studies other teams, their defensive schemes, and everything about them and how to dominate them. Kobe, the same thing. Bill Gates is always looking for worthwhile investments and continually looking for the next best step in his business endeavors and he does this by studying the market, research, and learning.
The next takeaway was being able to live a life where being broke and giving all you can give at the end of your life is what you want. I personally have the tenacity to give my best effort and to go to bed every day feeling accomplished and like I got everything done. Tom Monaghan's example of being able to give where it could do the most good is amazing to me. I have the passion to help people and use the money I have to help others and to give to others and I want to do work that gives back. I have been given so much. A good education, a good job, a beautiful family and so much to be happy for. and to appreciate. Some people don't have that, a lot don't actually have any of it. I feel it is my duty to give and freely do so so I can help others.

Forgot Your Passion

" If I believe I can do it, I am going to try" this quote is by Corey Bell. It is so incredibly true, as I am learning quickly in my classes this semester, there is no quit, there is not reason to ever give up if we have a passion and we care about what we are doing. We cannot fail, we can't loose but it takes that tenacity to be able to do so. I am learning quickly in wanting to go into a tough department of the business world in the Non-Profit Sector that its work, its grit, its determination and never giving up and forgetting the passion and keeping the fire inside.
Keeping a journal such as this through a public blog has been helping me develop and create my passion and wanting to keep talking and thinking and motivating me go further. There is a fire inside of us, mine comes out in my writing and when I talk to people I feel the fire ignite.
Each of us is different, some of us find our passion while were on the toilet, some of us find it while we are driving late night on the back roads listening to our favorite songs. We all have a passion, we all have an idea, we all have something we want to do to change the world, help others live a better life. We might not know how to do so, we might know what we want to do and we have no idea how to get there. We may have hit a wall. That wall isn't impossible to get over, or to go around, there is always a way, we have to believe in ourselves to find that way! We often times have to break our plan and take a route that doesn't at all line up with our extravagant plan But in the end, that thing we broke in our plan was exactly what we needed at the time to propel us to where we wanted to be all along.
Life changes, life is moving fast, we often can't keep up but if we are always working toward our passion and our big idea and following it and never letting our fire burn out, we cannot fail!

Childhood Dreams, Are Still Dreams

I recently watched Randy Pausch's Last Lecture. All I can say is I am astounded at how he delivered this lecture, but not only that but how he always was able to put the most important things in life first.
He was happy, that stood out to me the most. He knew his life was getting close to the end and he didn't want any pity. He was happy. I couldn't at first figure out why. Why would a man, so close to death be so happy, not depressed?  How?
So I listened and tried to read between the lines.  One of the things that stood out the most to me in his lecture was is tenacity. In his lecture and how much he wanted to push and push and push to his goal. He never gave up, he never quit, he always persevered. To keep pushing through the brick walls and to not stop even then.
So what does this even mean to me in my life? I have always been a person to not take no for answer. I was taught if you want something bad enough in life, well you get it and don't stop until you do. This is what he did, he never stopped and he never let go of the dreams he carried with him as a child.
He never let go of his dreams, for me personally I didn't let go of my dreams, but I stopped dreaming from time to time. I let those dreams slip, I gave up on my childhood dreams. I think it is crucial to a child's development to let them dream and dream big. My young cousin Mason, he wants to be a baby doctor when he grows up. He loves babies, and his family encourages him and doesn't let him forget what he wants in the end.
I think back and my biggest dream was to play professional baseball. Well for me that dream ended when my arm ended. I don't think I will ever achieve this day, but I believe I can still push myself to the level to be able to coach and help others achieve this dream or work in a field where I can help people achieve their dreams.
Today, my dream is to help others achieve theirs. To help them move to the levels and give them the support they need. I feel I can achieve this dream if I stick to my passion and I always look for ways I can help and develop others and push them.
Never stop dreaming, never give up, take a sledgehammer to that brick wall and overcome the obstacles in your life that hold you back from your dreams.

Entrepreneurship- Let it Sail

Recently, I decided to get back into school and I learned something about myself. I have loved helping the little guy. Now, not literally the little guy, but those who need my help the most. I want to go into the Non-profit sector of the business world and work for a Non-profit in the Pacific Northwest. The reason for this place is home. This is home to me, this is where I feel the most comfortable and where I feel I can make the biggest difference. I was asked to keep a blog for one of my classes and I loving it so far. I can honestly say two days into the semester I had an Ah-hah moment. I have learned already this week in class what I want to do now. I have an end goal in mind and where I want to go. It won't be easy, it will be tough to balance life and get to where I want to go. But I know when I help that first person of many it will all be worth it and i'll look back on now and I will be so grateful. I am looking forward to learning more about entrepreneurship in my B183 class this semester and how it applied to the different aspect and being able to learn from Church leaders and their insights.
I learned to not give up on a dream and to keep pushing until you get there. But to not let work consume your life. that is the big take away. Never let work become family and never let family become work.
